Pseudo-scientific validation
Wednesday 2 May 2007
by Irna

Since the beginning of the excavations in Visoko valley to confirm Mr. Osmanagic’s hypothesis about the Bosnian "pyramids", his Foundation has frequently promised an "international scientific validation" of the project and the "evidence". If a few Egyptian or Italian scientists have more or less seemed to support the project during 2006, none of these scientists (Dr Barakat, Dr Ibrahim Aly, Dr Dario Andretta...) has ever published a report, or even the slightest written opinion, on their visit in Visoko, and the single document published as "international validation" by the Foundation is this marvellous propaganda poster:

Apparently in 2007 Mr. Osmanagic’s Foundation is continuing to invite foreign scientists in Visoko to study the "pyramids", but it seems that it is now a very different kind of "scientists" than the previous ones, who were actually geologists or archaeologists. A news from the 30th of April (en) on the Foundation web site mentions the visit of "Doctor Harry Oldfield from Great Britain and Doctor Karin Tag from Germany".

Let’s begin with the "Doctor Karin Tag", of which the Foundation gives only the name, but who is presented as "archaeologist and geologist" by the local medias (bs) and the pro-pyramid forums (en). No use to look for an academic reference or publication, you won’t find one. But Karin Tag is a medium, member (and maybe founder, at least she owns the domain name) of a "Seraphim Institute" (de) located in Germany, an Institute devoted to the establishment of world peace by the way of meditation, prayer and "energetic transfers" using a "crystal skull" (en) of which Karin Tag is also the guardian. This crystal skull, named "Corazon de Luz", of which we are told that it is linked with Atlantis, Karin Tag is taking it all over the world in "magic places" that she "activates" this way. Among these magic places are, beside the classical Karnak temple and Cheops pyramid, Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower and Euro-Disney... Can one suppose that the skull has just made a little trip to one of the Bosnian "pyramids"? [1]

What about the English "Doctor Harry Oldfield"? He is presented on the Foundation web site (en) as "biologist, Honorary Doctor of Sciences, visiting professor at Grenada Unversity’s School of Medicine, and member of the Royal Society of Microscopic Research in Oxford". These two last titles are actually mentioned in the brochure (en) on Dr Oldfield’s web site (en) ("Fellow of the Royal Microscopical Society, Oxford, and Visiting Professor, Department of Medicine, Grenada University"); one can notice however that there is no mention of a "Harry Oldfield" on the Royal Microscopical Society (en) website (there actually is a Dr Oldfield, but he is called "Ron" or "Ronald") [2], nor on St. George University website (en) in Grenada. It is quite amusing that the Foundation text "forgot" to give Mr. Oldfield’s other precise titles, maybe because they do not look sufficiently "serious" or scientific; Mr. Oldfield is in fact, according to his own brochure, a "homeopathic physician" who received in 2000 a "Honorary Doctorate from the World Peace Centre in Pune (en), India", and a "Professor Honoris Causa in the Department of Alternative Medicine, Zoroastrian College, Mumbai (en), India": these two institutions are quite respectable, but they are more oriented toward the spiritual development than toward science, and it is maybe a little bit excessive to present Mr. Oldfield as a "Doctor in sciences"...

As was the case for Karin Tag, no use to look for traces of Dr Oldfield’s papers in scientific publications: there are none [3]. Yet Mr. Oldfield is a great inventor: he invented an "electro-crystal therapy" (en) used to "balance the human energy field", stimulating its "chakras and meridians" by the way of an "electro-magnetic generator" coupled with crystals; as well as an "electro-scanning method" (en) and an "electro-transplant therapy" (en). His most recent invention is the one he used on the Bosnian "pyramids", the "PIP" (en) or "Polycontrast Interference Photography", that allows, according to him, to photography the "interferences of the human energy field with photons". That is all Dr Oldfield will say about the scientific principles of his invention; if you want to know more, you can maybe try to buy the "PIP Reality" software (en), at the price of 3466.25 £...

As I have no intent to buy this software, nor to pay for the necessary "training" in order to learn how to interpret the pictures, I will not say anything more on this extraordinary technology which allowed Mr. Oldfield, according to this article in the magazine Nexus (en), to study ghosts and supernatural entities [4]. All that can be said is that his software produces nice pictures, that the Foundation has immediately published (en) on the website, pictures that show, according to Mr. Oldfield, the presence of "anomalies": vertical and "pulsating" energetic fields, which Mr. Osmanagic interprets as proof that the "pyramids" are "giant energy accumulators", "generators of electro-magnetic energy" (bs)...

Well, we are still very far from the claimed "scientific validation": doctors in "spiritual sciences", chakras, crystal skulls, mysterious "photonic electro-magnetic phenomena", secret and revolutionnary technology that has never been submitted to scientific evaluation... This being said, one cannot deny that there is a certain kind of logic in the "pseudo-scientific" validation of a "pseudo-archaeological" project!

[1] I was not mistaken : today, 7th of May 2007, the Fondation published (bs) an "experiment", that is the "energetic interaction between a crystal skull and the Bosnian pyramid of the Sun". We learn that Karin Tag, "crystal skull expert", and again presented as "doctor in archaeology and geology", has brought her skull, said to be of Maya origin, on the top of Visocica hill. The event was followed by Harry Oldfield, who could record with his fabulous invention (see the continuation of the article) the "photonic and electromagnetic fields" from the "pyramid" before, during and after the skull little trip. If you dare look at the long (mostly in English) video presented on the Foundation web site, you will be rewarded by the knowledge of how Ms. Tag "activated" the "pyramid of the Sun" and "opened its energetic portal", hoping to bring peace and wealth to Bosnia and to the entire world ; on the other side, if you look intently around the 14th minute, you’ll learn by a sentence from Mr. Oldfield that he, along with his German colleague, observed an "unidentified flying object" near the "pyramid"... Well, I was really beginning to think it was time that the extraterrestrial builders of the pyramid show themselves !

[2] In fact, Harry Oldfield is most probably really a member of this Society, as could be anybody willing to pay 55 £, see the application form (en) ; and even a "Fellow", if he payed the subscription for a continuous period of three years, see here (en)...

[3] In fact, this article from the magazine Nexus (en) mentions "more than 100 articles" that "have been published on Dr Harry Oldfield’s research", some in very serious publications as the British Medical Journal (en); however, I could not find any mention of Harry Oldfield in their archives since 1994, not as author, nor in the body of the papers or cited in the bibliographies... It is true that mentions of Mr. Oldfield and his inventions are many on the Web, but none comes from a scientific source; maybe again a plot from jealous scientists who refuse to acknowledge the genius of another possible Galileo!

[4] According to the same article, it is not the first time that Mr. Oldfield is linked with pseudo-archaeology, as he participated in 1979 in a "research" about a Neolithic stone circle in Oxfordshire (this research being carefully mentioned on Mr. Osmanagic’s Foundation website (en)), during which he was personally confronted with a "supernatural entity" in the shape of a giant black dog out of Hell...
