In which the "proto-Bosnian" alphabet is mentioned again
Readers will perhaps recall that one of the most outlandish claims of Semir Osmanagic’s Foundation was the discovery of certain symbols in the Ravne Tunnel, three kilometres from the Pyramid of the Sun. Muris Osmanagic, their "finder", considers them to be a proto-Bosnian alphabet, "the ancestor of all European alphabets" (en), from Phoenician to Teutonic runes. A new "expert" for Mr. Osmanagic’s Foundation!
Among the Bosnian bloggers who, for two years, have exposed the various pseudo-archaeological manipulations by Semir Osmanagic and his friends, some use serious critical analyses, and some - or sometimes the same ones - prefer to use humour and derision. Among the last, one of the most formidable is the one who writes, under the pseudo "Izmo Guglic" (transparent allusion to the delirious heading "Iz mog ugla" (en) on the Foundation website), the Expert blog (bs).

Un nouvel "expert" pour la Fondation de M. Osmanagic !
Parmi les blogueurs bosniens qui dénoncent depuis deux ans les manipulations pseudo-archéologiques de Semir Osmanagic et de ses amis, certains multiplient les analyses critiques sérieuses, d’autres - parfois les mêmes - ont plutôt recours à l’humour et à la dérision. Brick-a-brac...
In lack of "scientific reports", quite rare these last months (and that’s not surprising, see here (en)), and in lack of new "discoveries", the Foundation website doesn’t offer these days, beside some promotional material about Mr. Osmanagic’s presentations in foreign countries, more than a few revivals of old photographs: "extracts from the photo documentation" or "details from the Bosnian valley of the pyramids". On this last page, however, appears a photograph that, as far as I know, has never before been published on the Foundation website:

Une brique à braque ?
A défaut de "rapports scientifiques", devenus fort rares ces derniers temps (et pour cause, voir ici (fr)), et en l’absence de nouvelles "découvertes", le site de la Fondation ne présente plus, dans ses actualités, à côté des affiches promotionnelles des présentations de Semir Osmanagic à l’étranger, que des "reprises" d’anciennes photos : "extraits de la documentation photo", ou "détails de la vallée des pyramides de Bosnie". Sur cette dernière page apparaît cependant une photographie qui à ma connaissance n’avait jamais été diffusée auparavant sur le site de la Fondation :

The Galileo Gambit
The supporters of parasciences consider the debate as the struggle of open, revolutionary minds, against the censorship of an omnipotent and sclerosed institution, which tries to suppress the truth in order to ensure the perenniality of its domination. This schematization, that will be called here "appeal to Galileo", is founded upon the drawing of a parallel between the present controversy about parasciences and Galileo’s trial - or rather the myth it generated.

Le syndrome de Galilée
Les partisans des parasciences interprètent le débat comme la lutte d’esprits ouverts, révolutionnaires, contre la censure d’une institution omnipotente et sclérosée, qui cherche à étouffer la vérité afin d’assurer la pérennité de sa domination. Cette schématisation, qu’on appellera ici “appel à Galilée”, repose sur l’établissement d’un parallèle entre la controverse actuelle sur les parasciences et le procès de Galilée – ou plus précisément, le mythe auquel il a donné naissance.

A la recherche des rapports perdus
C’est sous ce titre qu’a été publié, le 11 janvier 2008, un article signé Vuk Bacanovic dans le magazine bosnien BHDani. Apparemment, ce magazine a reçu quelques documents très intéressants, que M. Osmanagic aurait sans doute préféré ne jamais voir publiés. In search of the lost reports
Under this title was published on the 11th of January 2008, in the Bosnian magazine BHDani, an article by Vuk Bacanovic. It seems that the magazine has been sent some interesting documents, ones that Mr. Osmanagic’s would probably have preferred never to see revealed to the public. A correspondence with Dr. Barakat
About a month after the publication of this article (en) on my website, containing a few comments about Dr. Aly Barakat’s report, I received a mail from the Egyptian geologist. Following this first contact ensued an interesting correspondence that I publish here, of course with Dr. Barakat’s authorization.

Nadija Nukic : "Osmanagic has driven away the scientists from the project"
Nadija Nukic is the name of the geologist who, at a time, was "coordinator of the Committee for Geology" (en) in Mr. Osmanagic’s Foundation. She is the author of the reports on the probe holes and drillings (en) made in 2005 at Semir Osmanagic’s request, and she stayed in the Foundation as the team’s chief geologist during the first half of 2006. Then she mysteriously disappeared from the Foundation news at the end of the summer 2006, at about the same time that Senad Hodovic, director of the Visoko Museum, also left the team. Nadija Nukic, c’est le nom de la géologue qui fut, durant un temps, "coordinatrice du comité géologique" (en) de la Fondation de M. Osmanagic. Elle est l’auteur des rapports sur les sondages et forages (fr) réalisés durant l’automne 2005 à la demande de Semir Osmanagic, puis est restée sur le site comme principale géologue de l’équipe pendant toute la première partie de l’année 2006. The Academician, the pyramids and the Moon
Mr. Osmanagic’s Foundation had announced, at the end of July 2007, a visit to Visoko of Russian geophysicists, Professors Khavroshkin and Tsyplakov (news in English (en) and in Bosnian (bs)). At last, Dr. Barakat’s report
After a long wait, the Egyptian geologist Aly Barakat’s report, made after his stay in Visoko in 2006, has at last been published on the Foundation website. You can read it here (en), or download the .pdf file hereunder:
This much expected report may raise more questions, concerning its form and concerning its substance, than it gives answers. Concerning its form, the first question one may ask is: why so long a delay for its publication? Real archaeology in Visoko
Since the beginning of the "pyramids" affair, one of the things Mr. Osmanagic, his team and his supporters, repeat again and again, is the idea that Visoko region would be "terra incognita" for the archaeologists; that enables them to claim 1) that the "official" archaeologists do not do their job; 2) that, thanks to Mr. Osmanagic, the archaeological wealth of the region will be revealed to the world. Talk like an Egyptian...
After the mineralogist Aly Abd Barakat in June 2006, and the egyptologist Mohamed Ibrahim Aly in September 2006, a new group of Egyptian scientists arrived in Visoko to lend their help to Mr. Osmanagic. They are two archaeologists from Cairo Faculty of Archaeology, Dr. Soleiman Hamed El-Heweli and Dr. Mona Fouad Aly, and the third is a member of Alexandria Archaeological Society, Dr Nabil M.A. Swelim; along with these three archaeologists is an old acquaintance of ours, Dr. Barakat.

Après le minéralogiste Aly Abd Barakat en juin 2006 et l’égyptologue Mohamed Ibrahim Aly en septembre 2006, une nouvelle série de scientifiques égyptiens est venue prêter main forte à M. Osmanagic. Il s’agit de deux archéologues de la Faculté d’Archéologie du Caire, les Docteurs Soleiman Hamed El-Heweli et Mona Fouad Aly, et d’un troisième membre de la Société d’Archéologie d’Alexandrie, le Docteur Nabil M.A. Swelim, ces trois archéologues étant accompagnés d’un "revenant", le Dr Barakat.

"Pyramids" shaped by Romans?
Bosnian "pyramids": hills shaped by Romans, that’s the title of a new blog, created in August 2007, dedicated to the "Bosnian pyramids" : http://omerbashich.blogspot.com/ (en). Not just another pro- or anti- pyramids blog : this one at the same time denounces Mr. Osmanagic’s "amateur digging" and hoaxes, and claims to offer an alternative theory to the existence of the "pyramids".

Did the Bosnian pyramids builders come through France ?
One can actually wonder, seeing some "artifacts" - at least Mr. Osmanagic would probably call them that - that I found in Saint-André de Rosans in the region Hautes-Alpes. I went there to look closer at the stone balls (en), and was quite surprised to encounter, in the same sandstone layers that contain the balls, some phenomena indisputably similar to those Mr. Osmanagic uses in Bosnia to back his hypothesis.
First it is, on the surface of the Serre d’Autruy plateau, the presence of a sandstone "pavement":

Les constructeurs des "pyramides bosniennes" sont-ils passés par la France ?
La question peut légitimement se poser au vu de certains "artefacts" - du moins M. Osmanagic les appellerait-il probablement ainsi - que j’ai pu observer à Saint-André de Rosans dans les Hautes-Alpes. Je m’étais rendue là-bas pour y étudier de plus près le phénomène des boules de pierre (fr), et quelle ne fut pas ma surprise en observant, dans les mêmes couches de grès qui ont donné naissance à ces boules, quelques phénomènes indiscutablement similaires à ceux que M. Osmanagic utilise en Bosnie comme argument en faveur de sa thèse.

Stone balls : in France too!
I have already mentioned here and there the fact that the famous "stone balls" (kamene kugle) that, according to Mr. Osmanagic, exist nowhere else than in Bosnia, in Mexico and in Costa Rica, are in fact a phenomenon much more frequent than is usually known, as they can be found on all the continents, including Europe. Boules de pierre : en France aussi !
J’ai déjà évoqué (voir ici et là) le fait que les fameuses "boules de pierre" (kamene kugle) qui, d’après M. If you used to have sometimes a look on the various blogs of the "Anti-Pyramid Web Ring" in Bosnia, you may have noticed that their content has disappeared; instead there is a short post (bs), saying that "because of the pressures bearing on us and our families, and of the legal threats", their authors have decided to stop, at least temporarily, writing their blogs. One must think that these anonymous bloggers, who unwearyingly exposed Mr. Osmanagic’s and his team’s fakes and stupidities, have hit some sore points, and endangered the "greatest geo-archaeological project of the century", (...)

Christian Schwarz-Schilling, Mr. Osmanagic’s High Representative?
Since the 2nd of July 2007, Mr. Christian Schwarz-Schilling is not anymore High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina; the new High Representative is a Slovakian diplomat, Mr. Miroslav Lajcak. However, it seems that Mr. Schwarz-Shilling did not remain long unemployed, as less than a week after his departure from the OHR he could be found acting as the showman for Mr. Semir Osmanagic and his Foundation...

Si vous allez de temps en temps faire un tour sur les divers blogs du "Web Ring Anti-Pyramides" en Bosnie, vous aurez pu remarquer que leur contenu a disparu, remplacé par un bref message (bs) annonçant que "à cause des pressions exercées sur nous et nos familles, et des menaces de procédures judiciaires", leurs auteurs ont, au moins temporairement, mis fin à leurs activités. Il faut croire que ces blogueurs anonymes, qui dénonçaient inlassablement les trucages et les stupidités de M. Christian Schwarz-Schilling, Haut Représentant de M. Osmanagic ?
M. Christian Schwarz-Schilling n’est plus, depuis le 2 juillet 2007, Haut Représentant de la communauté internationale en Bosnie-Herzégovine. Il a été remplacé à ce poste par un diplomate slovaque, M. Miroslav Lajcak. Cependant, il semble que M. Schwarz-Schilling ne soit pas resté longtemps sans emploi, puisque moins d’une semaine après son départ de l’OHR on le retrouve jouant le rôle de bonimenteur pour le compte de M. Semir Osmanagic et de sa Fondation...

Artifacts again...
Despite the lack of excavation authorization (en) on Visocica Hill, Mr. Osmanagic’s Foundation is continuing its activities, during this 2007 spring, on the unprotected sites, Pljesevica Hill and the two tunnels of Ravne and KTK (according to the name of the company that owns the place where this second tunnel opens); activities which permit it to announce regularly new discoveries, always wonderful and conclusive. En dépit de l’absence d’autorisation de fouilles (fr) sur la colline de Visocica, la Fondation de M. Archaeology is not the only "alternative" science in Visoko, judging by one of the last articles published on Mr. Semir Osmanagic’s Foundation website. Indeed, a text dated 23th of May 2007 (bs) explains that M. How the Bosnian scientific institutions see Mr. Osmanagic’s project - part 2 (and end?)
I have described a few days ago in this article (en) some official documents published on geolog-mrak (bs)’s blog. It appears that Mr. Osmanagic’s Foundation has asked from the Ministry of Culture an excavation permit (including for excavations in the protected area on Visocica, see here (en)) as well as some subsidies; and that the Minister, Mr. Gavrilo Grahovac, has, before answering, contacted various Bosnian scientific institutions in order to get their opinion on Mr. Osmanagic’s project. The reader probably remembers (see this article (en)) that Mr. Osmanagic’s Foundation appears to have this year - contrary to the year 2006 - some difficulties in obtaining the necessary excavation permits in order to pursue their project. It seems that the responsible federal authorities, that is the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Physical Planning, have this year decided to ask for the opinions of various scientific authorities about Mr. Osmanagic’s projects. Le lecteur se rappelle peut-être (voir cet article (fr)) que la Fondation de M. Osmanagic semble avoir cette année, à la différence de l’année 2006, un peu de mal à obtenir les autorisations de fouilles nécessaires à la poursuite de son projet. Artifacts
I had planned to devote a long article to the numerous artifacts and mostly pseudo-artifacts found in 2006 and at the beginning of 2007 by Mr. Osmanagic’s team, but Stultitia has been more swift and made two excellent posts on the English blog of the Anti-Pyramid Web Ring (en). Since Mr. Osmanagic made known his hypothesis about the "Bosnian Pyramids", almost two years ago, he has frequently been opposed by Bosnian scientists, archaeologists and geologists, supported by their European colleagues. Artefacts
J’avais prévu de consacrer un article aux nombreux artefacts et surtout pseudo-artefacts trouvés en 2006 et début 2007 par l’équipe de M. Osmanagic, mais Stultita m’a devancée avec deux excellents posts sur le blog en anglais de l’Anti-Pyramid Web Ring (en). Je me contenterai donc d’un bref résumé avec un renvoi sur ces posts.

Depuis maintenant bientôt deux ans que M. Osmanagic a rendu publiques ses hypothèses sur les "pyramides de Bosnie", il s’est fréquemment heurté à l’opposition des scientifiques bosniens, archéologues et géologues, soutenus par leurs collègues européens. Un poisson d’avril au mois de mai ?
Le visiteur de passage sur ce site aura peut-être eu l’occasion de lire ce texte (fr), publié le 1er avril, dans lequel j’annonçais la découverte par M. Osmanagic et son équipe, sous forme de poissons gravés ou sculptés, d’un extraordinaire trésor archéologique confirmant leurs plus folles hypothèses sur une mystérieuse puissance maritime mondiale. Pseudo-scientific validation
Since the beginning of the excavations in Visoko valley to confirm Mr. Osmanagic’s hypothesis about the Bosnian "pyramids", his Foundation has frequently promised an "international scientific validation" of the project and the "evidence". Vérifications pseudo-scientifiques
Depuis le début des fouilles dans la vallée de Visoko en vue de confirmer l’hypothèse de M. Osmanagic sur les "pyramides" de Bosnie, la Fondation de celui-ci nous promet régulièrement une "vérification scientifique internationale" des travaux et des preuves annoncées. The pyramid fishermen: an extraordinary discovery!
I received this morning some news that will, if confirmed, make me totally change my opinion about Visoko site and its interpretations by Mr. Osmanagic’s Foundation. The news, at the time when I’m writing, has still not been published on the Foundation website, but it was communicated to the people who signed in for the Foundation newsletter, so that I guess it will be published very soon. What is this news? Malo numerologije
U novostima od 2 marta 2007, Fondacija "Piramida Sunca" obavještava nas da Gospodin Osmanagić nastavlja svoj put oko svijeta "u potrazi za izgubljenim civilizacijama" (u okviru njegovog učešća u "znanstvenoj" emisiji istog naziva koja će biti emitirana na bosanskoj televiziji). Excellent news from Bosnia for the European archaeology: a team, led by Ms. Snjezana Vasilj, Professor of Archaeology in Sarajevo and Mostar Universities, has published the discovery of the first Illyrian boats ever found (en) in Hutovo Blato.

Of credulity
There is no limit to the credulity of those who want to believe...
One can find an evidence for this in the extraordinary story made up, not, for once, by Mr. Osmanagic and his fellows, but by a few enthousiastic "supporters" on some pro-pyramids websites or forums.

Il n’y a pas de limite à la crédulité de ceux qui veulent croire...
On en prendra pour preuve cette extraordinaire "reconstruction" réalisée, une fois n’est pas coutume, non par M. Osmanagic ou son entourage, mais par quelques "supporters" enthousiastes sur deux ou trois sites ou forums pro-pyramides.
